Dinner at Parish Cafe

8:46 AM

I've always known Parish Cafe as a great spot to stop for a beer and an order of their famous onion rings, but I recently got the chance to explore more of their menu. Parish Cafe just celebrated 25 years in business and it's no surprise why; with a sandwich menu curated by some of the best chefs in the biz, Parish has something on the menu for everyone. I invited my blogger bestie Celina of Trends and Tolstoy to join me for dinner in anticipation of their 25th birthday celebration.

We started the evening with a glass of rosé (is there any other way?) and perused the menu before deciding on the special for the day; The Lydia Sandwich. Parish is best known for their sandwiches which are dreamed up by some of the top chefs in the industry like Tiffani Faison, Michael Scelfo, Chris Coombs, and Brian Poe. Available seasonally, the Lydia is An open faced lobster salad sandwich on brioche served with field greens created by chef Lydia Shire of the now-shuttered Pignoli Boston.

Since we opted for seafood, we also got a taste of some of their well known classics; The Hot & Dirty Pig Burger (created by Tiffani Faison) and the vegetarian Alden Burger. The Hot & Dirty Pig Burger features double decker pork burgers, crispy bacon, mustard, and American cheese on a seeded bun while it's less decadent counterpart, The Alden (by Michael Scelfo) is comprised of charred broccoli on ciabatta with pecorino aoli, crispy chickpeas, and cherry peppers. You may think there's nothing special about sandwiches, but Parish Cafe has proven otherwise for a quarter of a century, so much so that LA transplants still crave their sandwiches!

If you're a Boston resident, Parish Cafe is likely among your go-to's, especially if you're a member or attempting to become a member of their exclusive Mug Club. If you're a tourist, I can't imagine a better spot than Parish! With a casual atmosphere, cold and often local beer, and flavorful sandwiches from Boston's premier chefs under one roof, there's no better choice!
