Brunch at Bistro du Midi
10:01 AM
For years I’ve walked by the luxury shops near Arlington street, pining for the contents of the current window display from Hermes or Botega Veneta, never really paying much mind to Bistro du Midi, the french inspired resto, innocuously tucked away on Boylston Street. The arrival of their weekend brunch menu might just change that; serving up a decadent menu boasting comfort food favorites with a twist (think Lamb Belly & New Potato Hash and Rosé Sangria) alongside classic brunch favorites.
The oysters were fresh and clean, and served with a saffron mignonette that's unique to Bistro du Midi. Most remarkable, and also exclusive to Bistro du Midi was the raspberry orange marmalade featured in the charcuterie selection; we scraped every bit from the cheese board! I ordered the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes and a side of bacon. The pancakes were absolutely amazing; Three thick, fluffy ricotta pancakes with perfect crisp edges (which I'm told are made possible by baking it in a cast iron skillet) drizzled with lavender creme anglaise and macerated blackberries. It was what brunch dreams are made of! My brunch date opted for the Flat Iron Steak with a poached farm egg and sauce au poivre which he remarked was excellent. After a bite, I was included to agree.
Bistro du Midi serves up an excellent brunch (browse the full menu here) and I was really impressed with the service we received. If you find yourself with an appetite near the Common, stop in for lunch or brunch!
