Date Night at Nebo
11:11 AMI must admit, I am a creature of habit when it comes to restaurants. I visit the same spots over and over again and while I love the rapport I've built with my favorite bartenders, chefs, and servers, I often miss out on what's right in front of me. That was the case with Nebo and I am seriously upset that I've been missing out on their seriously amazing menu!
I ventured to Nebo for Monday Night Date night while browsing local options for dinner during my Aloft Boston Seaport Staycation. A short walk from South Station and just under a mile from the hotel, Nebo is the perfect spot for after work drinks, a lively weeknight date, or any occasion really. Our reservation was at 5pm and by 6pm the dining room, bar, and outdoor patio were filled with patrons.
I ordered a glass of rosé at our servers suggestion and he guided us through the creative Italian menu. We started with apps, the Budino (goat cheese panna cotta, medjool dates, hazelnuts, honey, crostini) and the Polpo (octopus, crushed chickpeas). OH MY GOD, the Polpo! It was so deliciously tender and perfectly seasoned, I've never had octopus like this. For the past few weeks I've been ordering octopus every time I see it on a menu lately but nothing comes close.
For the main course my date opted for the Ricotta Gnocchi (sweet sausage, broccoli rabe, pecorino) while I opted for the Tagliatelle Cappesante (squid ink pasta, seared sea scallops, light marscapone cream sauce). We also couldn't resist splitting their classic Margherita Pizza. There was silence for the first few minutes after the entrees arrived-- always a good sign if you ask me. I highly recommend the Tagliatelle Cappesante; it's flavorful, fresh, and a memorable dish. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!
For dessert we opted for the Christoforo (sweet pizza dough, Nutella, chopped hazelnuts, powdered sugar) and my date pretty much devoured half of it. I'm not the biggest fan of chocolate and my date says my taste in dessert absolutely sucks, so agreeing on a dessert we both like is a big deal.
