Winter on the Wharf

11:24 AM

I've noticed a trend in the Winter... no one wants to do anything! The struggle is real to come up with fun things to do with limited daylight and falling temperatures. Last month Khatu and I had a Wintry lady date at the Boston Harbor Hotel. We started the day with lunch at the Rowes Wharf Sea Grille and then spent the afternoon ice skating harborside. While spending the afternoon at a hotel may not seem like the most obvious and exciting way to spend a wintry day, the Boston Harbor Hotel shares many of its amenities with the public.

The Rotunda Rink is open until February 21st and offers gorgeous views of both the Boston Harbor and city skyline while you skate. Admittedly, I'm no Michelle Kwan, but I had fun circling the rink and taking in the stunning views.  Admission is $10 for adults and$10 for skate rentals. The hotel even offers Saturday skating lessons in 4-week packages for beginners for $110 per person.

You don't need to go very far for a great meal; The Rowes Wharf Sea Grille at the Boston Harbor Hotel serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with delicious fare from Chef Daniel Bruce. They also offer traditional tea and selection of tea sandwiches and pastries. Paired with the Harborside views from their dining room, I can't think of a better place in Boston to have afternoon tea!

If skating isn't your thing, spend the afternoon indulging and relaxing at the Rowes Wharf Spa. The hotels spa offers luxurious treatments such as their Harbor Stone hot stone massage and Remarkable Radiance Enhancing Facial as well as nail services and hair removal services.

And of course, you're always welcome to lay your head at the Boston Harbor Hotel for a Boston Staycation. Enjoy views of the water from a cozy bed at this award winning five star hotel. Check out the Boston Harbor Hotel website or call 617-439-7000 for rates, reservations, and details!
