Spa Day at Mirbeau Inn & Spas
10:12 PM
“I saw you walking down Boylston Street last week but you
were walking too fast for me to say hi!” Or, “Chill out! We have plenty of
time!” Are frequent comments I hear from friends and family throughout the week.
As someone who thrives on stress, and lives a very fast-paced lifestyle, it’s very
rare that I take time to really unwind and take care of myself.
But last week, I did just that. Khatu and I took last Wednesday
off to make the short drive to Mirbeau Inn & Spa in Plymouth, MA
for a much needed spa day. The great thing about Mirbeau is you don’t have to
be a guest to enjoy the wonderful amenities they have to offer; any spa
treatment or appointment provides clients with full access to their fitness facilities,
locker rooms, relaxation room & foot spa, as well as their heated outdoor
aqua terrace & bar.
We started the day with generous glasses of cucumber and
lemon infused water before heading to an 11am Pilates class in the fitness
center. The class was small, and the instructor was very pleasant. She started
with some basic flow and slowly moved into more rigorous core work. Immediately
following our workout we made our way to the Inn’s Bistro & Wine Bar, Henri
Marie, for a decadent lunch of fresh, raw oysters, Duck Confit Flatbread, and a
yummy (although a little crumbly) Lobster BLT. Since the weather was nice, we
were able to enjoy lunch on the terrace. Not sure how many fall days like those
we have left!
After lunch we headed to the spa for our treatments. I
absolutely loved the setup of Mirbeau’s spa; you enter the relaxation suite
through the locker rooms and find yourself in a dimly lit oasis of comfy white
lounges and a warm foot spa. I couldn’t resist plunging my feet into the foot
spa between sessions. First up was a 50 minute Deep Tissue Massage. My
therapist was very communicative, and worked out some troublesome knots
throughout my body (especially on my right side, what’s up with that?). I
emerged from the room feeling slightly sore, but completely relaxed and like a
weight had been lifted from my limbs. Immediately following my massage was a 50
minute Mirbeau Signature Facial. My esthetician was very communicative, knowledgeable,
and worked quickly and painlessly during extractions. Once again, I emerged
from the room feeling completely relaxed and at ease.
Before we left we stopped for a dip in the heated aqua
terrace to enjoy a glass of wine in the sunshine. I could have spent all
evening there if you let me! Overall, I was very pleased with the experience
provided by Mirbeau. It’s the perfect place for a midweek retreat or to simply
spend the weekend being pampered with a significant other. Have you ever
treated yourself to a spa day? It was a truly indulgent experience at Mirbeau Inn & Spa and I'm very much looking forward to making this a regular treat!
