Lunch at the Hard Rock Cafe Boston
7:26 PMThe last time I visited a Hard Rock Cafe I was about 13, had just dyed my hair a hideous shade of copper, and was on vacation in Orlando, FL with my older brother. So when Blog & Tweet Boston extended the invite to try out the newly redesigned menu at the Hard Rock Cafe here in Boston I was quick to accept!
Upon arrival we were greeted by the general manager as well as glasses of red and white sangria. They had a huge table set up displaying their most popular apps, entrees, and desserts; I must say the spread was very impressive! We sat down for lunch and began one of the most decadent meals I've had to date! It was quite a treat.
We started with the Air Mexico margarita flight; a tasting of 6 refreshing, flavored margaritas, and a side of chips, salsas & guacamole. I sampled the cucumber margarita and loved the crisp, refreshing flavor. Our first course was a Mini Grilled Chicken Arugula Salad. For such a small salad it was bursting with flavor! I loved the addition of oranges and the lemon balsamic vinaigrette.
The second course featured my favorite cocktail of the day-- the Red Berry Press. Served in a French press, fresh strawberries, raspberries, and lemons are muddled with Svedka Clementine vodka, lemonade, and lemon-lime soda. Oddly enough, it tasted just like red Skittles which is probably why it easily won me over. We then had a taste of the barbecue sampler which consisted of a Mini Smoked Beef Brisket Sandwich (totally worth going back for), a side of Barbecue Chicken, as well as Hickory Smoked Ribs (cooked to perfection) and a side of citrus spiked coleslaw and cowboy beans. The buttery grilled toast on the Beef Brisket Sandwich was a nice touch as were the crispy battered onion pieces.
Next we sampled the Twist & Shout, a chocolatey cocktail featuring Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream, Guiness, Bacardi Spiced Rum, topped with chocolate sauce, whipped cream, salted caramel sauce, and bacon. A little too rich for my blood, but great for those with a hardcore sweet tooth! We tried this with slider versions of their Fiesta Burger (brioche bun, jalapeño salsa, jack cheese, fresh guacamole, pico de gallo, lettuce, tomato), Tango Burger (Angus beef, homemade BBQ sauce, sloppy joe mix, jack and American cheese, blue cheese crumbles, horseradish mayo, brioche bun), and Grilled Vegetable Sandwich (grilled portobello mushroom, zucchini, yellow squash, roasted red peppers, grilled asparagus, Monterrey jack cheese, balsamic glaze, tarragon mayo, on grilled sourdough). I loved the Fiesta burger. The cool guacamole complimented the fiery jalapeño salsa well.
For our final course we each had a full size Cowboy Rib Eye with hash brown waffle and roasted asparagus and Grilled Norwegian Salmon with mashed potatoes. At this point I was already full, so I packed up my 16 oz. bone-in rib eye steak and took it home for dinner. It was delicious, and perfectly tender even reheated. I really enjoyed the crisp hash brown waffle (hiding underneath my giant steak) it was a nice alternative to fries. The salmon could have had a little more sauce though, I didn't really get the intended sweet & spicy barbecue flavor.
We completed the meal with a trio of sample sized desserts; Oreo Cheesecake, fresh Apppe Cobbler, and their signature Hot Fudge Brownie. I love fruit, so the Apple Cobbler was definitely my top dessert pick. The Salted Caramel Cafe cocktail served alongside was a sweet twist on the traditional Irish Coffee. The perfect way to end a meal-- I definitely recommend it in lieu of dessert!
After lunch we were treated to a surprise "final course." We headed into the gift shop and all picked out new Hard Rock Cafe Boston tees! I love the vintage burnout tee I went home with, it's definitely the softest and most comfortable tee I own.
If you're visiting Boston, showing around guests, or just looking for a casual place to grab a quality meal in the Faneuil a Hall area I would recommend stopping by and trying out the redesigned menu at the Hard Rock Cafe. You won't be disappointed!
