Summer Faves: SPF
3:26 PM
With the official start of Summer just a week away I wanted to share some of my favorite SPF laden products for the season. As tempting as it is to want to skip the hassle of applying SPF, it's definitely the most important step in your summer beauty routine. Whether you need a great SPF product for face, body, or containing self-tanner, I've got you covered!
Best for Face
Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral Powder SPF 45 ($30): I love this purse-friendly powder for hot summer days shopping on Newbury Street or exploring Cape Cod. This translucent powder absorbs oil leaving skin with a matte finish while applying an invisible layer of SPF 45.
Simple Kind to Skin Protecting Light Moisturizer with SPF 15 ($12.99): Kind of like the Three Bears of moisturizers; not too greasy, but perfectly hydrating with SPF 15. This fragrance free facial moisturizer is just right for Summer.
Best for Body
L'Oreal Sublime Sun SPF 30 Oil Sunscreen Spray ($10.99): I purchased this sunscreen oil last year and am in love with oil sunscreens! I feel like they resist sweat and water much better than traditional sunscreen creams. Although that doesn't mean you can be lazy about reapplying! The spray bottle can get a little slippery if you're rubbing it in and grabbing the bottle with greasy hands, but I otherwise love this product!
Drunk Elephant Umbra Sheer Physical Defense SPF 30 ($42): This zinc sunscreen lotion protects from the sun with a light, non-greasy, almost mattifying finish. Fragrance free, paraben free, and free of synthetics, Drunk Elephant Products are also not tested on animals!
Clarins Broad Spectrum SPF 30 Sunscreen Care Oil Spray ($35): My favorite oil sunscreen, this sunscreen care oil spray from Clarins is light enough to be used on the hair, effectively protecting it from salt water and chlorine. It still protects the skin and body from UVA and UVB rays, while promoting a healthy natural glow.
Best Self-Tanner
Supergoop! Gradual Self-Tanning Sunscreen Mousse with SPF 20 ($38.00): If you're looking for a subtle, gradual self-tanner that won't leave you with streaks of orange this lightweight lotion is great for daily use post-shower. I didn't like it for active use outdoors however. The formula left my slightly sweaty skin greasy, and left a faint hint of orange on my beach towel. Keep this one in the bathroom, not your beach bag.
