Brunch at Sweet Caroline's
2:14 PMThe Fenway area isn't exactly known for it's dining options; When I lived there 3 years ago, Restaurant Row was recovering from a recent fire and the neighborhood was seriously lacking. Since then a bevvy of new restaurants have opened in the Fenway including Sweet Caroline's Restaurant & Bar. I had the pleasure of enjoying brunch at Sweet Caroline's with several Boston bloggers a few weeks ago and it was certainly a treat!
I can't possibly talk about each menu item we tried because there were so many but there were certainly some stand out favorites! Starting with...
Their lobster roll. The bun was toasted to perfection and there was just the right amount of mayo. Definitely one of the better lobster rolls I've had. Their homemade chips were a yummy snack, and nice alternative to traditional fries.
Next up was their breakfast burrito! Although it had jalapenos, it wasn't spicy. A well prepared combo of traditional egg and cheese with some bits of bacon. The side of potatoes were perfectly roasted.
Their buffalo chicken rangoons were a favorite among the group. Again, not very spicy, but certainly flavorful and crispy. I didn't try the dipping sauce, but they were great on their own.
Just a couple of the cocktails we enjoyed that day... the one on the left was made with cucumber vodka and was definitely my favorite of them all.
Absolutely loved this fried oyster salad... except for the eggs. We all ate around them. Chuck em, and you're good to go. The bacon vinaigrette paired nicely with the oysters oddly enough. I would definitely go back for this salad (without the egg).
Traditional Fish & Chips plate
Bacon Cheeseburger
Another cocktail! This one had quite a bite.
Stuffed Portabella Mushroom Sandwich... oozing with cheese and a side of sweet potato fries!
Beer cocktail just in time for dessert!
My favorite of the two desserts served was this warm apple crisp. I'm a huge fan of fruit crisps and this was delicious and crumbly.
Fresh Baked Cookie Dough Pie
It was incredibly delicious and incredibly indulgent. I would definitely stop by Sweet Caroline's again when dining in the Fenway, or for a post-Sox cocktail. It was comfortable, clean, and was pretty quiet on a Saturday afternoon making it an undiscovered brunch gem (I only had a bite of their pancakes but I'd love more!).
Have you ever been to Sweet Caroline's? What are your favorite Fenway eateries?
