Blog Better Boston: Style Summit
11:30 AMSaturday was a day full of blogging, fashion, and fun at Boston.com headquarters. Alana and Amy of Blog Better Boston created a day-long Style Summit geared towards fashion bloggers and it was a huge success! I arrived at the same time as Georgina from Notes on Lifestyle who was wearing this fabulous romper from Rent the Runway. Doesn't she look fierce?
The day started with coffee, bagels, and a little networking before heading out for the days sessions. My first session was with Alison from Long Distance Loving and she covered all things design. We talked about simple design tweaks and modifications bloggers can make to improve their brand and traffic. Alison was so sweet, her lecture was incredibly informative, and we had a great discussion about consistency and fonts. I'm itching to get working on some new header ideas!
After that I headed to a media kit session with Tieka of Selective Potential. This girl has an impressive list of collaborations! Her session is really what I needed to finally get the ball rolling and create my own media kit. She had some amazing graphics, too!
I was late to lunch because I stayed behind to have my nails done by Mini Luxe. I opted for a hot pink with a gold glitter ombre accent nail. I'm seriously in love with this mani! After a quick lunch I caught a lecture by Smita from Hogger & Co. about instagram. It was great getting to pick her brain about her thought process and photography techniques.
Kristen of the Boston Fashionista (above left with Tara of Style Flattery) spoke to a packed house about brand partnerships and collaborations. She touched on everything from our worth as bloggers to the dreaded rejection email. Armed with the media kit tips from Tieka's session and Kristen's advice on partnerships I am so ready to tackle some brand collaborations and marketing outreach!
Next was a session dedicated to creating a content calendar with Julie of Orchid Grey. I enjoyed getting an idea of how other bloggers organize and brainstorm their content. My last session was a photo session with Hunt's photography where I finally figured out where some more advanced settings and menus were hiding on my camera, and learned about some features that I didn't know existed but will definitely be using now! I think my next conference will be photography oriented, the little taste we got wasn't enough!
Speaking of photography, here are a few more photos from throughout the day:
New friend Kelsey was sporting this studded cross body bag. I need something like this in my life! So cute. Kelsey and I crossed paths at a blogger panel I spoke on at Northeastern University a few weeks ago, and again at Loft, and again at the conference. I think the cosmos want us to be friends.
Amanda of Prim and Propah and her phenomenal lavender hair. It's so beautiful!
Strawberry Margarita and Vanilla cupcakes provided by Insights. They were delicious. I am such a cupcake fiend!
That's Holly from Holly Dolly and Katherine from Style Tab in the middle! I was lucky enough to hang out with Holly twice this week, first at the Loft grand re-opening party and again at the conference. It was really great getting to know her, she is an absolute sweetheart.
After the conference Brooke from Insparisian and I snapped a few outfit photos in front of the Boston Globe offices and gabbed about the conference on the train ride into downtown. All in all it was a great conference and I can't wait until the next! I got some amazing goodies from Lulu's, First Aid Beauty, Benefit, Roster's Sports, Boston.com, and more. I can't wait to share them all with you on the blog. I smell some reviews and outfit posts coming up!
Sorry for the long post, but I am just so inspired from Saturday's conference I had to share some photos and details. I think it will really help elevate the blog and its content. Stay tuned! I will be sharing what I wore later next week!
