January Birchbox
8:45 PMThe January Birchbox was a fun surprise this month. I was excited to try these products and I loved that Birchbox is now putting the smaller samples into those cool boxes they gave out in the last Birchbox instead of tying them with ribbon or just wrapping them. I have to point out that I haven't gotten more than 5 products in my box since September of last year... anyone else notice this? Anyway, on to the samples!
Oscar Blandi Lift Thickening and Strengthening Serum: I only got to use this serum once since you apply it to wet hair before you style it and I pretty much always wash my hair before bed but I wasn't impressed when I used it. While I did feel like my hair was thicker, the effect didn't really last. My fine hair was as limp and lifeless as usual not too long after.
Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Styling Heat Protectant Spray: This spray has a super fine mist and is really light. Even when I used it on unwashed hair it didn't leave my hair feeling greasy and I loved that! The light lemon scent smelled just like their Pronto Dry Shampoo which I use daily and love. A little pricey for me because I don't put a lot of effort into my hair, but I would consider this product after my next hair cut.
Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy: I own the original Juicy Couture perfume and find the other versions just a little too much for me. No into this one.
Eyeko Skinny Liquid Liner in Black: I really wanted to like this liner. It was super easy to apply, has a sturdy tip, and intense color BUT it dries out really quickly. I've used it maybe 5 or 6 times to line my upper lids and today I decided to try a more dramatic cat eye and it dried out on me half way through! I had to put the cap back on and put it upside down to get it to saturate the tip a bit and then I ended up finishing one eye with my MAC gel liner in Blacktrack because I was running late. Disappointing.
Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre: I also wanted to love this product but my skin was just not having it. It was too rich for my face and it clogged my pores. Smelled great and I love how moisturizing it felt, for someone with dry skin I can see this product living up to its 24 Hour Miracle Cream reputation.
All products are available in the links above or in the Birchbox shop...
I had fun trying all of these products (except the perfume). I don't normally use many products on my hair so it was fun to test these out and get a little more into doing my hair than usual. Liked the liner and learned a lot about my skin with the Embryolisse cream. The little booklet they sent was cute too. I love that they have been instagramming each day. That will help hold me over until February!
