December Birchbox
3:09 PMThis month's Birchbox arrived all dolled up in a gold and pink patterned box and was one of my favorite boxes thus far. My box included theBalm Cosmetics Mary-Lou Manizer, Amika Obliphica Nourishing Mask, Chuao Chocolatier Assorted ChocoPod, Aerie Shimmer Fragrance, and Lashem Measurable Difference Lash Gel Serum. Keep reading to find out which product was the star of the box!
theBalm Cosmetics Mary-Lou Manizer: I was pleased to get a "color" product in this month's box. I've been a subscriber since March and hadn't received any fun makeup samples since I got the Pixi Beauty Lip Blush in August and the Stila eyeliner I got in May. I used this as an eye shadow while getting dressed the other day and I liked the sheer shimmer it provided. Next time I do a full face of makeup I will definitely be playing with this product as a hilighter and illuminator. It blends well and has a build-able color if you really want to shine.
Amika Obliphica Nourishing Mask: When I tried this product I was surprised by how light the fragrance was. All too often hair masks are heavily scented. I worked the product into my wet hair, left it on per the directions, rinsed, and let my hair dry naturally. My hair was left feeling soft and manageable but not necessarily more so than with other deep conditioners. I liked this product and would consider it if I were purchasing a deep conditioner.
Chuao Chocolatier Assorted ChocoPods: I don't like chocolate. I don't really like brownies, I definitely don't like chocolate cake or chocolate ice cream but there was something about this sample that yelled, EAT ME! I really enjoyed it and am even considering purchasing them! I received the Dark Chocolate with Roasted Breadcrumbs and it was great. The unexpected flavors combine for a unique treat! My favorite part of this box, and my favorite food sample thus far.
Aerie Shimmer Fragrance: This was the most disappointing sample in my box. Aerie? Why is it in my Birchbox when I can try this at a shopping mall in any city in middle america? I was hoping for the Cartier perfume sample but ended up with this junk. One sniff and I tossed it (too strong).
Lashem Measurable Difference Lash Gel Serum: I'd love to rave about this product but there were barely two applications in this vial much less a third. I can't speak to its efficacy, but it was easy to apply and didn't sting or irritate my eyes. The tube says Lash and Brow serum but the product's website says it is not for use on eyebrows. It also says to be sure to remove contact lenses before use. It's advanced products like these that Birchbox needs to provide instructions for!
Overall, I liked this box even if I hated the Aerie sample. The ChocoPod and theBalm's Mary-Lou Manizer were definitely my favorite picks of the bunch. Were you lucky enough to receive the Cartier perfume? Did you love or hate your December Birchbox?
