October Birchbox

This month Birchcbox teamed up with the Gwenyth Paltrow sponsored Goop.com for a special edition October Birchbox. My box contained five samples this month: Luna Bar in Lemon Zest, Essie Goop Picks in Lady Like, Supergoop! City Sunscreen Serum, Kiehl's Rosa Arctica Eye Cream, and Jouer Lip Enhancer.
Luna Bar in Lemon Zest: I've been eating these for years, they're pretty delicious. Fun (and shocking) Fact? I don't like chocolate. I stumbled upon Luna bars when I noticed they offered the best variety of flavors without chocolate. The Lemon Zest is definitely my favorite followed by Peanut Butter Cookie. I keep a couple in my desk at the office and in the pantry at home. I buy them at Trader Joe's for 99 cents each.
Essie Goop Picks in Lady Like: This is a really nice color but since transitioning to the Sephora by OPI Gelshine kit I only use "regular" nail polish for nail art. Essie is definitely one of my favorite nail polish brands, and I'm really excited CVS has been carrying it.
Supergoop! City Sunscreen Serum: This product went on smoothly, although I wouldn't exactly call it a serum. It'd consistency is certain thinner than that of a typical sunscreen, but it's still rather thick for a serum. Smells like sunscreen which lets me know there should be some good SPF coverage (the coverage in makeup/primers alone is not enough). My only qualm was that the
Kiehl's Rosa Arctica Eye Cream: I really enjoy Kiehl's products but this one just doesn't fit my needs. I've never used an eye cream before and maybe I should be, but this one probably isn't the one for me. While the texture, application, and smell were unremarkable, my eyes were left with tears occasionally streaming down my face post-application. Perhaps I applied too much, or too closely to the eye area, but it wasn't ideal for an eye cream.
Jouer Lip Enhancer: This was my favorite product from this months Birchbox, hands down! My lips had been feeling the effects of the cooler weather and this product restored moisture with a formula that lasts longer than most. While I didn't notice any type of plumping or enhancing effects, I can definitely get on board it's smoothing and moisturizing effects.
Goop Box: Overall I expected a little bit more out of this box. Because of the high caliber of the products featured on Goop I expected some high value, high caliber products in the box. I was disappointed since I only received five samples, previously I have received an average of six or seven. I would have been okay with receiving fewer if I felt the other samples were exceptional. While I wasn't wowed, the Jouer Lip Enhancer was definitely the redeeming product of this box, I'll be using my next set of Birchbox points to purchase a tube in the future.
What did you receive in your Birchbox this month? Were you pleased with Goops selections if you opted to receive that box? What did others receive in their traditional October box?
